The Story

Andre Bergeron grew up watching small businesses in his community struggle. He saw neighbourhood shops, family restaurants, and local tradespeople pour everything they had into serving their customers — only to be buried under the weight of overpriced phone bills from legacy telecom giants. A single business line could cost eighty, ninety, even a hundred dollars a month. For a shop owner living on thin margins, that wasn’t just frustrating — it was crippling.

The problem wasn’t limited to businesses. Andre saw it at home, too. Families forced to choose between a reliable phone connection and other essentials. Seniors who depended on their landline to reach doctors and loved ones but couldn’t justify the rising costs. Students who couldn’t afford the extras piled onto every bill. The telecommunications industry had made something simple — the ability to call and be called — unnecessarily expensive.

Andre spent years in the telecommunications industry, learning the technology from the inside out. He studied VoIP infrastructure, SIP protocols, cloud architecture, and carrier-grade networking. The deeper he went, the more convinced he became: the cost of delivering a phone call had dropped dramatically, but the big carriers hadn’t passed those savings along to customers. They were still charging legacy prices for a service that no longer cost what it used to.

That realization became the spark for On-VoIP.
